Tonnara
The charm of the stone, the breath of the sea.
The authentic soul of a seaside village, amidst history, tradition, and timeless charm.
The ancient Tonnara di Solanto stands in the heart of the seaside village of the same name, a place that retains the breath of its centuries-old history intact. Recovered and valued with full respect for her identity, the Tonnara recounts a past in which sea, work, and worldliness were inextricably intertwined. During the Bourbon period, this fascinating complex was one of the key points of social and maritime life on the coast. Here the Palermo nobility, residing in the summer villas of Santa Flavia and Bagheria, gathered on the days dedicated to the haul and the mattanza, transforming the Tonnara into an elegant meeting place by the sea.
A cultural legacy that is still felt today in its architecture and its atmosphere suspended in time.
A unique environment with material and luminous charm
Built at the end of the 17th century, the Tonnara consists of a large unitary environment characterized by double real vaults and entirely made in sandstone blocks.
The light that filters naturally on the irregular surfaces of the stone creates a suggestive golden effect, capable of enveloping the environment in a unique and immediately recognizable visual warmth.
This architectural identity, authentic and powerful, makes the Tonnara a space with a high scenographic impact, perfect for events that seek atmosphere, character and a beauty not built, but deeply rooted in history.
A prestigious location for exclusive events
Today the Solanto Tonnara offers itself as prestigious venue for unique receptions and events.
